Post-Survey Processing Pipeline

After the Survey

When you drop the exported 360 video (and the camera's original _00_.insv file or a .gpx track) into Import 360° survey, the browser uploads it in resumable pieces and processing starts automatically on RoadScope's servers. A typical survey completes within minutes; very long videos take longer, and the progress bar in the wizard keeps updating.

Frame Extraction

The video is unpacked and individual panoramas are extracted at the frame spacing you chose (for example one frame every 5 m). Frames with poor GPS signal are flagged for review.

GPS Alignment

Each frame is matched to a GPS coordinate by its capture time. The position source is, in order of preference: the GPS track embedded in the camera's original _00_.insv file, a .gpx track you dropped, GPS embedded in the video itself, or manual timing along a route drawn in RoadScope. The survey records which source was used.

Quality Review

Before publishing to the viewer, you can review the frame sequence for:

Problematic frames can be excluded from the published sequence.

Resuming Interrupted Processing

If processing is interrupted — by a network drop, browser close, or server restart — it can be resumed from the last completed checkpoint rather than starting from scratch.

Publishing to the Viewer

Once you approve the sequence, click Publish to Viewer. The frames are compressed, sequenced, and made available in the route map viewer. The process typically takes 2-5 minutes.

Viewer Availability

Published 360° sequences are available in the project map viewer and in the Client Delivery Portal (if you choose to include them when generating the portal link).
