It's been longer than a week since Issue #02 — fair to call that out. Equipment sales have been strong, and every new kit out the door means real training time with the crew running it. Tristan brings over 25 years in the industry across survey, OS/OW routing, dispatching, and regulatory work — including nearly 10 years building a specialized pilot car fleet at ODS Fleet. He's joining us part-time, splitting his time between his own fleet and helping us on technical support, development, and R&D. That kind of field-tested judgment is hard to find, and it's going to make a real difference across the board.

Every carrier we talk to has the same problem: dispatchers are aging out or moving on, and the seat is brutally hard to fill. It's not a job you can post and backfill in two weeks — it takes years to build the judgment a good dispatcher carries in their head. That gap is exactly why we built Max Load to write, not just answer questions, and why SolTecONE's dispatch board is built to run itself where it can. We're not claiming AI replaces that judgment yet. But somebody's fleet is going to be the first to run a shift with AI doing the first pass and a human doing the exceptions — and we think it's closer than most people in this industry expect. RTK that actually connects. Survey-grade, no fuss.

ProfilingPRO now auto-discovers and auto-connects to your GNSS receiver — no more hunting for the right port. RTK correction over NTRIP is fully working, including Skylark and other providers, and PPP is now easier to reach for when you don't need real-time RTK but still want correction applied.

255 km, tens of thousands of points, one clean profile.

We ran ProfilingPRO's new capture pipeline as a real stress test on a 255 km route — tens of thousands of points, built into a single clean vertical profile. It caught every grade over 12%, every curve with a radius under 65 m, and — the one that mattered most — exactly how many times a wind blade's overhang would need to cross into the oncoming lane along the way. The convoy knew every risk point before the wheels ever turned, with time to plan around it instead of reacting to it.

MeasurePROv16.4.0 shipped · 16.5.0-beta in testing

Shipped now, and a big auto-connect release in testing.

Live now in 16.4.0: you can survey against a previous survey — import a RoadScope export and the app calls out what's coming, "Wire in 200 m, at book 5.33 m," and flags anything you've exceeded without logging it. The warning distance follows your speed. And paid features are visible instead of hidden — modules you haven't purchased still show up in the column, with a plain explanation of what add-on unlocks them.

What's new:

  • In testing (16.5.0-beta — not yet released): the Duro receiver connects reliably from the desktop app, auto-reconnects if a cable moves, and finds itself on the network with no IP address to type in
  • Laser and GPS auto-connect too — the screen just tells you which port answered and at what speed
  • Settings open in their own window so your map and camera stay visible; every tool lives in one Windows menu bar; a setting changed in one place now applies everywhere — hardware, GNSS, map, and voice pages
  • The voice confidence slider is now wired to the recognition engine for the first time — raising it in a noisy cab finally does something
  • On RoadScope sync, you'll see exactly which company a survey is heading to, pick one when there's more than one, and get a clear warning when there isn't — the usual cause of a "synced" survey nobody can find

Reports you can actually trust.

Roughly 400 changes shipped on RoadScope over the last twelve days. The thread connecting the biggest ones: better data in, better images captured, and a report at the end you and your client can actually verify. Every RoadScope PDF is now digitally signed with a QR code linking to a public /verify page, carries a stable revision history, and is built by a three-layer narrative engine that checks every number against its source before the report ever goes out — with a "Derived Findings" layer that shows its evidence trail, and jurisdiction packs (QC/ON/MN/US) with high-voltage rules baked in. Report images can now be captured in one batch across an entire multi-segment route, with a retake editor so one bad frame doesn't mean redoing the whole set.

What's new:

  • ProfilingPRO's vertical road profile is now a first-class citizen inside RoadScope — raw NMEA GNSS log import, combined profile × swept-path analysis, breakover detection, and exports to CSV, PDF, GeoJSON, LandXML, and DXF
  • Max Load, the AI agent, can now write — creating routes and POIs, controlling the map, and running full workflows like reports and Route Watch on its own, with undo on any bulk change
  • Also on the bench: an open connector so you can work your own RoadScope data from whichever AI assistant you already use — no need to open RoadScope at all. Same idea extends both ways: pull in data from other apps and external sources into RoadScope, not just push out. The goal is the data stays yours, and it goes wherever your workflow already lives.

Live fleet positions from Samsara feed the dispatch map automatically, every tenant is hard-isolated at the database level, and licensing runs module by module with no forced-update walls — an operator clearing a permit at 5 a.m. never gets locked out mid-shift. SweptPRO answers the question that costs the most when you get it wrong on the road: does it fit in this turn? Draw your route on a satellite basemap, describe your convoy axle by axle, and watch the real swept envelope trace every turn, roundabout, and site entry — no engineer with a tape measure, no AutoTURN seat at $3,000–$8,000 a year.

  • The differentiator: the drone module reads your own DJI site photos — plug it in by USB, and SweptPRO pulls the EXIF/XMP data, calculates ground resolution, and projects your own georeferenced imagery under the simulation

MapPRO Light is live at roadscope.app/map — a free, no-login map for anyone who needs to search an address, get A-to-B directions, or drop a few pins. Up to 30 POIs and 20 drawn routes, satellite and traffic layers, full Street View, and exports to KML, KMZ, GPX, and GeoJSON. Nothing touches our servers — everything lives in your browser. It's a genuinely useful free tool on its own, and it's also the front door to Map Pro: premium modules like SweptPRO, LoadPRO, ProfilingPRO, and RailPRO integration are visible in the sidebar, with a clear path to unlock them when you need more than 30 pins.

Tune the laser right from MeasurePRO — no more Putty

MeasurePRO now lets you tune the laser itself right from the app — no more opening Putty to read or change its settings. With this new configuration panel, 98% of wire misses are now caught, and precision on smaller targets is noticeably better. Combined with the new auto-scan and auto-connect for GPS and laser, getting a kit field-ready is faster than it's ever been.

  • SoonA 360° LiDAR rig that reads clearances like a rail profile — mounted on the front of the truck, the scanner sweeps a full circle at each point along the route, producing a single elevation "cut" of the space at that exact spot; string those cuts together and you get a continuous profile of everything around the corridor, the same logic rail uses for clearance checks, applied to the road
  • SoonThe same thing in reverse for the equipment: draw the rear silhouette of the convoy and its load as an envelope connecting every point farthest from center. Overlay the two cuts, and you see immediately, at every point on the route, exactly where it wouldn't fit — no point-cloud processing marathon, just a fast cut-to-cut comparison
  • SoonEvery cross-section carries its own image and, where a 360° camera was running at capture, its own position in a custom Street View-style viewer — a problem spot isn't just a number, it's a place you can click straight to on the RoadScope map. RoadScope Sync at survey creation — pick your destination before the first POI is captured

v16.1.102 moves the RoadScope decision to the very first screen: the moment a surveyor creates a survey, MeasurePRO asks where the data should go. Local Only keeps the survey on-device. New RoadScope Map creates a fresh map in RoadScope and links it to this survey. Existing Map attaches the survey to a map the office has already set up. From that point on, every POI flows back to the chosen map automatically — the office sees the route fill in as the crew drives it.

What's new:

  • RoadScope Sync prompt on every new survey — Local Only / New RoadScope Map / Existing Map, picked once, remembered for the duration of the survey
  • Sign-In from Sync Banner — if the field user isn't signed in yet, the sync banner now opens the sign-in flow inline instead of bouncing back to Settings
  • Loading Spinner Fix — the spinner that occasionally got stuck after a long sync no longer hangs; the UI returns to ready state as soon as the last part is uploaded
  • Backwards-compatible with v16.1.101 surveys — existing Local Only surveys can be promoted to a RoadScope map at any time from the Sync panel

Every POI knows which route it belongs to — automatically

Before v16.1.102, the office had to manually decide which incoming POIs belonged to which planned route. Now the assignment happens automatically. When MeasurePRO pushes POIs in, RoadScope resolves each one against the active route set: explicit field-side assignments are honored first; everything else is matched by spatial buffer against the closest route in the map. The result is that the Routes tab in MapPro always shows the right POI count per route, the Driver Briefing pulls the right hazards, and the elevation profile aligns the POIs with the correct corridor — no manual sorting required.

  • Auto-assigns synced POIs to the correct route on the map
  • Honors explicit field-side route tags when MeasurePRO provides them
  • Falls back to a spatial buffer match against the closest route for everything else

Route Intelligence is the paywall that gates detail data on POIs that came from external Route Intelligence sources (not from your own crew). Foreign POIs appear on the map for free with basic context. The detail layer — measurements, clearances, condition — is unlocked per POI with credits, or unlimited on an RI subscription. Credits never expire, unlocks are permanent on your workspace, and the audit trail of every unlock is visible to the workspace owner.

POI Discovery (Tools → POI Discovery) sweeps the corridor of any route in your project and surfaces every POI the platform already knows about — your own crew's captures, your company's captures on other projects, and POIs from external Route Intelligence sources. Pick the ones that matter and import them into the active map in one click. The planner walks into the first day of survey planning with the bridge list, culvert list, and intersection list already on the map.

  • Search a route corridor end-to-end with a configurable buffer
  • Filter by POI type, owner (yours / your company / external Route Intelligence sources), and risk badge

Installable, offline-capable field shell at /fieldapp — survives every release

The Field App is a Progressive Web App, not a website. Install it once on the pilot-car phone or tablet from /fieldapp and it loads instantly, even with no signal, because the shell and its JS/CSS chunks are cached on the device. The service worker is also self-healing: when the office ships a new RoadScope release, installed Field App users are not kicked off the cached shell. API traffic always passes through to live data, but the shell itself keeps working until the user is ready to update.

  • Installable to home screen on iOS and Android via the standard PWA install flow
  • Cache-first for the shell and code chunks — opens instantly with no signal
  • All /api/* traffic passes through — live data when you have signal, queued when you don't

The next big swing for RoadScope is Ask the Data: a natural-language query engine layered on top of every survey, route, POI, and report in your workspace. Combined with the v16.1.102 auto-sync from MeasurePRO, this is the moment the office can ask "show me every bridge under 4.5 m on a Quebec corridor we surveyed in the last 12 months" and get an answer in seconds instead of opening 14 surveys by hand. Coming soon — not shipped yet.

Audio Watchdog: 6 alert types — eyes on the road, data to the ears

ProfilingPRO's Audio Watchdog turns six categories of recording health into audible cues so the driver never has to look at the tablet to know the run is good. Use it on long highway stretches where staring at the screen is exactly what you can't afford to do.

  • Grade alarm — distinct tone when the live grade crosses your warning or critical threshold
  • RTK warning — different tone the moment the GNSS fix drops below RTK fixed
  • Connection alert — speaks up when the antenna or correction stream disconnects

SweptPRO is currently in beta and being used on the Thacker Pass corridor. The crew is running swept-path analysis from the cab on the same rugged tablet that ships with the MeasurePRO kit. The differentiator is the same as it was at prototype: drone shot to turning-radius check on-site, without waiting for the office. Public beta still on track for fall.

In development — axle-load calculator for the whole team

LoadPRO continues to build. The product premise hasn't changed: an axle-load calculator any employee can run — office, field, or cab — with the equipment library built directly from your CAD drawings so the math mirrors your real fleet, not a generic one. We'll announce the closed-beta window in The Weekly when it's real.

RoadScope Pairing Code workflow — link a MeasurePRO device in under a minute

Open the survey in RoadScope → Collaborative Survey panel → "Generate Pairing Code." A 7-day RS-XXXXXX code appears. On the MeasurePRO device, paste the code into the RoadScope Sync screen and the device is linked to that survey — POIs flow back automatically from that point on. Codes auto-expire after 7 days, can be revoked instantly from the panel, and the panel shows last-sync time and parts-uploaded count so the office always knows the link is healthy.

RoadScopeField Capture App — Week of May 7, 2026

Field Capture App is live at /fieldapp — built for the pilot car, not the desk

Pilot-car crews told us the same thing every survey: the regular mobile map is too dense to use while driving. The Field Capture App strips it back to one screen of huge, high-contrast buttons wired to a physical touch pole on the front bumper, so a single bump on a low wire or a tight curb is captured as a geo-tagged POI in under a second. Captures push back to the survey in real time, so the planner at the office sees the route fill in as the truck drives it.

What's new:

  • New driving-mode capture screen at /fieldapp with phone-sized, glove-friendly controls (no navigation UI, no voice — capture only)
  • Critical Turns can now be split into named sections in the PDF (e.g. "Day 1 — Northbound", "Restricted clearance corridor") with drag-and-drop between groups
  • Table of Occurrences now supports native spell-check and Cmd/Ctrl + B for bold inside cells, with proper Undo/Redo
  • Polish: shared-map menus no longer slip behind the map on mobile; long-route exports get an extended timeout so big surveys finish cleanly

The Thacker Pass survey proved it: 4,700+ km, 17,000+ data points, 530 bridges, 3,631 culverts, 299 intersections — captured by a single crew in 6.5 days. That's 720+ km per day. MeasurePRO doesn't slow you down. It keeps up.

What's new:

  • Live Support — RoadScope admins see your screen via WebRTC. Troubleshooting happens now, not after the job.
  • POI Safety Badges — tag Danger, Work Required, or Information in the field. Office filters by risk; critical items surface first.
  • 7-day free trial — install, launch, survey. No codes, no accounts.
  • Offline license — no internet? No problem. LicensePRO keys work anywhere, anytime.
  • Emergency Cache Clear — one button in Settings. Fixes sync issues without reinstalling.

Action Required

Update to MeasurePRO 16.1.101 — read this before you install

If MeasurePRO has been feeling sluggish or unresponsive on your PC, this is the fix. Two leftover folders from older versions cause the issue, and Windows Uninstall doesn't remove them — so simply installing on top will not solve it. Follow these steps in order:

  1. Uninstall the version of MeasurePRO currently on your PC (Windows Settings → Apps → MeasurePRO → Uninstall).
  2. Manually delete these two folders (the uninstaller leaves them behind, and they are what cause the freezing):
    • C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\measurepro-desktop-updater
    • C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\measurepro-desktop
  3. Download & install the latest installer. After install, you're good to go.

You can also try the in-app update — but the two folders above must still be deleted manually first, otherwise the update won't fix the freezing.

LoadPRO is the next addition to the SolTec stack: an axle-load calculator built so any employee can run a configuration — from the office, from the field, even from the cab of the truck. Build your equipment library directly from CAD drawings, run a load distribution in seconds, and stop bottlenecking permits behind a single specialist.

SweptPRO's early prototype was used in the field during the Thacker Pass survey. It's not done yet — there's real work left before public beta this fall — but the differentiator is already clear. SweptPRO runs on the rugged tablet that ships with the MeasurePRO kit, which means a tight intersection can be drone-shot, imported, and turning-radius checked on-site, without waiting for the office.

Convoy GuardianField-tested at Thacker Pass

No cell. No internet. Just a 10–20 km private mesh keeping the convoy in sync.

No-Install 360° Video Import

360° Street View

  • Import 360° video with nothing to install: export the 360 video from Insta360 Studio (the free app that comes with the camera) and drag it into RoadScope — three steps: pick files, confirm, watch the progress
  • GPS straight from the camera: drop the original _00_.insv file next to the exported video and RoadScope reads the GPS track from it — no separate GPX file needed (GPX and manual route timing still available)
  • Browser uploads now accept videos up to 16 GB each with automatic resume; when a file is too big the wizard tells you to split the recording in Insta360 Studio
  • Dropping raw .insv files alone no longer blocks the import — the wizard shows the exact Insta360 Studio export clicks with an illustration and lets you add the exported video

Report Quality

  • Data-completeness pre-check before every report: RoadScope audits your survey against the requirements of the selected report type and shows exactly which measurements, photos, or details are missing — before you generate, not after
  • Universal constraint verdicts: every restriction POI now carries a pass / marginal / fail verdict against your load dimensions — height, width, and weight — shown as badges throughout reports
  • Governing-constraints table: each report summarizes the tightest constraints along the route so the deciding structure for your load is never buried in the detail pages

Richer Report Data

  • Span length and route chainage now appear in reports for span-type POIs (road closures, narrow roads, narrow bridges), so crews know exactly how long each constrained section runs and where it starts along the route
  • Structured curfew schedules: travel-restriction windows attached to a POI render as a clean day-by-day schedule table in reports instead of free-form notes

Derived Route Insights

  • RoadScope now derives higher-level findings from your survey data: consecutive-turn clusters, steep-grade sequences, and obstacle-density hotspots are called out as named insights in reports
  • Inspection summaries: per-type aggregates of your field inspections (counts, worst findings, outstanding items) roll up into a dedicated report section
